Industry award affirms McMinn’s dedication to quality business communication

HOWE, Texas (January 24, 2007) – Mary McMinn, working through Brooks & Associates Public Relations, Inc., a full-service public relations firm, won the International Association of Business Communicator’s (IABC) 2006 Silver Quill Award of Merit for her winning entry in the Internet/Intranet category titled “Building Through Transformation in Online and Electronic Communications.”

McMinn was recognized for her work with Brooks & Associates client Electronic Data Systems (EDS), redesigning a Web site for an international building materials organization, an EDS external client. The group, a combination of two international companies that merged into one corporation, had only a small existing site that needed a cohesive communication plan and message. McMinn interviewed, researched, wrote and edited a family of Web sites: two global sites (one in Associated Press (AP) style and one in Australian style) and several of the company’s subsidiary sites in order to make the company’s online presence more consistent and compelling.

The Silver Quill Awards are presented annually by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Southern Region to recognize excellence in business communication. Judging was done by professional communicators from IABC Southern Region’s 25 chapters representing 14 states.

McMinn is a previous Silver Quill and Bronze Quill award winner. Currently she is completing the requirements for an ABC accreditation – an IABC recognition for professionals in the communications field.
